Repairing your Photoshop Paths file - Mac only

Question

I am trying to install my plug-in into Photoshop, but it's not detecting Photoshop on my computer. Why doesn't it detect my version of Photoshop?

Answer

If the version of Photoshop you are using is not compatible, it may not show up. If it is a compatible version, and it's still not showing up, your Photoshop Paths file may be corrupted. This really isn't a big deal, so don't worry. All you need to do is open Finder and browse to the Paths file location, and delete it. Once you open Photoshop and quit it, one time, it will be recreated. Then, run your installer again, and it should detect it. To do this, just follow the steps below.

Open Finder, and click the "Go" menu on the menu bar. Hold down your "option" key, and you will see Library appear in the menu. Click it.

Once it opens your user library in a Finder window, browse to the Preferences folder. In there, you will see a Paths file for each version of Photoshop that you have installed. Select the one for the version you are having trouble with, and move it to the trash. Now, launch Photoshop and then quit it by hitting the shortcut Command-Q on your keyboard. Photoshop should now appear in the installer as a valid option.
