Setting up plug-ins in Corel PaintShop Pro

While we do not support Corel products with our software, there are customers who use them with this software. This article shows how to set it up.

Create plug-in folders

Before installing your plugins, set up designated plug-in folders. You can name the folders whatever you choose, but I chose 32 and 64-bit Plug-ins to keep things clear.

Download compatible installers

You will need to determine if your Corel product is 32 or 64-bit. All current installers are 64-bit only, but we have 32-bit compatible installers for some products at this page.

Older Installers

Install the plug-in to the folders

You will need to perform a custom install.

  1. Launch the installer.
  2. Once you are at the License Agreement screen, press Alt+C on your keyboard.
  3. Click the Next button to go to the Host Selection step. Select the Custom Install button.
  4. Once you are at the Custom Installation screen, browse to the folder(s) you just created.

Set up File Locations

In PaintShop Pro select File > Preferences > File Locations.

In the File Types menu, scroll down to Plug-ins.

Click the Add button on the right and browse to the proper folder location.

In this example, I have both 32-bit and 64-bit folders added, but you will only need to add the folder that is compatible with your version of Corel PSP (ie 32-bit OR 64-bit).

Make sure both of the Folder Options are selected. The Use Sub Folders option means that you can select the top-level folder and it will search all the sub folders for available plugins.

Once you have done this, you can click the OK button and apply your settings. Restart your Corel software, and then look under Effects > Plugins to see your software.

If you have done all this, and you do not see your plugins listed, go back into preferences' and delete the folder location, click OK, restart your Corel program and add them once again, then restart your Corel program. If it is still not working, you will need to contact Corel for further support. As mentioned before we do not support setting up our software in Corel products.
